Pride Identity Guide

Here are some explanations of the Pride Identity Flags, we have included as many as we can, hopefully making everyone feel included.

Original Rainbow Flag

The original rainbow flag had a hot pink stripe for sex, red for life, orange for healing, yellow for sun, green for nature, turquoise for magic, indigo for harmony and violet for spirit. But it was difficult to produce so the colours were reduced to the 7 colour rainbow.

Progessive Pride Flag

In 2018 artist Daniel Quasar created the progress flag. This flag incorporates a chevron with the colours of the Transgender flag as well as the black and brown stripes to incorporate people of colours contribution.

Transgender

Having a gender that differs from the gender that one was assigned at birth

Nonbinary

Nonbinary Flag

Having a gender outside of the binary of male/female. Nonbinary individuals may be both male & female, or neither. Or something in between both.

Genderfluid

Having a gender that fluctuates and changes over time.

Genderqueer

Nonnormative gender or any gender outside of binary ie. a combination of gender identities not wanting a label.

Intesex

Intersex Flag

Having a gender outside of the binary of male/female. Nonbinary individuals may be both male & female, or neither. Or something in between both.

Agender

Agender Flag

Having no gender or being gender-neutral

Bisexual

Bisexual Flag

Attraction to both male and female gender and multisexual identities.

Polysexual

Polysexual Flag

Attracted to multiple genders but not necessarily all.

Pansexual

Pansexual Flag

Attracted to all people regardless of sex or gender.

Asexual

Asexual Flag

Experiencing little or no sexual attraction.

Aromantic

Aromantic Flag

Experiencing little or no romantic attraction and can have sexual attraction or identify with another identity.

Bear

Bear Flag

The term “bear” refers to a man who is part of a subculture that is characterized by a sense of comfort with natural masculinity and bodies.

Leather

Leather Flag

The leather pride flag is a symbol used by the leather subculture, which is associated with sexual practices and dressing styles that involve leather garments.

Lesbian

Lesbian Flag

The lesbian pride flag has multiple colors and each color has a specific meaning: Dark orange: Gender non-conformity, Orange: IndependenceLight orange: Community, White: Unique relationship to womanhood, Pink: Serenity and peace, Dusty pink: Love and sex, Dark rose: Femininity
